What are the unique features of Matsubara Clinic?
I think that one of the biggest features of my practice is that I have a long history of myopia surgery. I studied under Dr. Fyodorkh of Russia, who established RK, which is said to be one of the first myopia surgeries, and since opening my clinic, I have performed a variety of surgeries, from RK to PRK and LASIK. I have always been very dexterous, and I contributed to the restoration of vision in early RK surgery using a diamond scalpel, and that experience is still very useful to me today. The success of surgery is largely due to the power of the equipment, but that alone is not enough to ensure the restoration of vision to patients. I believe that a successful surgery can only be achieved by combining a sense of responsibility for the care of precious eyes with solid skills.
How do you spend your holidays?
I often go golfing. Even though it's just a hobby, it's nice when you get a good score. There was a lot of talk about Tiger Woods having LASIK surgery, but I think good eyesight is essential to improving at sports. Many of our patients improve their scores after undergoing surgery. As a fellow sports lover, I want to support them.
A message to those considering myopia surgery
There are many worries about important eye surgery, but at Matsubara Clinic, the doctor who actually performs the surgery will be happy to answer any questions you may have and explain everything to you until you are satisfied. We also have staff at our clinic who actually underwent my surgery. If there is something you find difficult to ask the doctor, it may be a good idea to ask the staff. I'm sure they will give you a frank answer.
